One of the Biggest LIES that’s Being Taught in Church Buildings, YouTube and More- Watch Out for This!

These days, the apostasy that was clearly prophesied in Scripture is spreading like wildfire. There’s so much of it, it would take a very long article to review it. There is, however, one bold faced lie that you must know about right now so that you don’t eat the poison hidden in something that appears ‘delicious’.

Did I hear you just say, “why is this in a blog post about addiction recovery?” Yes! You heard correctly. It’s here because Biblical Recovery relies on balanced, sound discipleship. We feed you the Word of God so that your faith skyrockets and Jesus can completely heal you! Read Romans 10:17 . . .

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

When I accept a new client, their blood is now on my hands. I am commanded by God to teach him or her properly… Biblically! I take this VERY seriously.

One of the most critical aspects of the Christian walk is understanding the relationship between faith and works. While salvation is a gift received by grace through faith, true faith is never passive—it is proven by action. James tells us plainly:

“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” (James 2:17, NKJV)

Faith and works are inseparable. If works do not save, why are they so important? The answer lies in the reality of genuine faith, which manifests in visible transformation.

1. Works Are the Evidence, Not the Foundation

Salvation is by grace, not human effort. Grace is defined as unmerited favor. None of us deserve His Grace; however, Jesus chose to give it to us anyway because He wants us to come to Him and return to our Abba Father.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NKJV)

However, true salvation produces works. A person is not saved because they do good, but a saved person will do good because their heart has been changed by Jesus Christ. As Jesus said:

“Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” (Matthew 7:17, NKJV)

Just as fruit proves a tree is alive, works prove that faith is real.

2. Faith Without Works Is Useless

Many claim to believe in Jesus but show absolutely no sign of transformation. They keep doing what they were doing before they claim they were ‘saved’. James warns against such empty faith:

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” (James 2:19, NKJV)

Mere belief is not enough—faith must be lived out. A faith that does not result in repentance, love, obedience, and service is dead faith, not saving faith. If you believe you are a medical doctor, and have had no formal education, could you get a job anywhere as a doctor? Let’s hope you couldn’t!

3. The Works That Demonstrate Salvation

The Bible provides clear markers of a transformed life:

  • Repentance – Turning away from sin (Luke 13:3)
  • Obedience – Keeping God’s commandments (John 14:15)
  • Love for Others – Serving and forgiving (John 13:35)
  • Fruit of the Spirit – Evidence of inward change (Galatians 5:22-23)
  • Faithfulness in Trials – Perseverance through hardships (James 1:2-4)

If salvation is real, these evidences will appear in a believer’s life.

4. No Works? Then No True Faith

Jesus makes a sobering declaration:

“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 7:19, NKJV)

A life that lacks obedience, love, or holiness raises serious concerns. True faith produces visible transformation—if there are no works, salvation must be questioned.

Summary

You are not saved because of your works, but if there is no evidence of works, you must seriously pause and ask yourself: Has salvation truly taken root in my heart?

Faith that saves is living, active, and undeniable leads to repentance, love, and obedience that comes naturally. If Jesus has saved someone, it will be visible in their life.

If you don’t see fruit in your own walk, don’t try harder in your own strength—fully submit and surrender to Christ and allow Him to transform you from the inside out.

Have a blessed rest of your today – thinking about you and Jesus!
