A Heart that Delights in God’s Wisdom Will Lead You to Fully Recover

“The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” (Proverbs 12:26)
Reflection:
The book of Proverbs is one of my favorite books in the Bible because it teaches wisdom. Wisdom is something God asks us to pray for always and guarantees that He will give it liberally to those who ask. Proverbs often contrasts the righteous and the wicked, showing us that righteousness is not just a state of being but a way of life—a series of intentional choices guided by His wisdom. Proverbs 12:26 reminds us that a righteous person doesn’t stumble into good character or relationships by accident. They seek God’s guidance, making deliberate choices that lead to life and peace.
In recovery, choosing carefully—whether it’s friends, thoughts, or actions—is especially critical. The people we surround ourselves with tend to shape us. If we walk with those pursuing wisdom and righteousness, their influence strengthens us. But when we align with harmful influences, we risk being led astray.
A righteous person is teachable, humble, and careful about who they allow to speak into their lives. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.(Proverbs 9:10) and strive to align their hearts with His truth.” (Proverbs 9,10)
Practical Steps for Today:
1. Examine Your Inner Circle: Are your closest friends helping you grow in your walk with God? If not, pray for discernment to adjust your relationships wisely.
2. Seek Wisdom Daily: Read Proverbs 12 and meditate on one verse that speaks to you. Ask God to reveal how you can live it out today.
3. Pray for Strength: Ask God to help you make choices that honor Him, especially in moments of weakness.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us the way of the righteous. Help me to choose wisdom in my relationships, thoughts, and actions today. Please give me discernment, Your wisdom and understanding to overflowing, Guide me to live in a way that reflects all that pleases You. In Jesus name, amen.
